Prescott Farm snowshoeFor those who don’t travel to warmer climates, the best way to enjoy winter is to get outside and play in the snow! In addition to skiing, skating, and snowmobiling, New Hampshire has wonderful opportunities for some quieter activities that still get the heart pumping and the spirit soaring! Here in the Lakes Region, Prescott Farm invites you to explore their 160-acre property during one of the most beautiful seasons in New Hampshire, with a variety of great winter programs for all to enjoy…

Celebrating the Seasons Series – Saturday, January 9th, Saturday, February 6th, and Sunday, March 13th, 10am & 1pm – The natural world is constantly changing. If you take the time to look, each month brings new and exciting phenomena to learn from and delight in. Using author Mary Holland’s book Naturally Curious as a month-by-month guide to the wonders unfolding in the fields, forests, and wetlands of New England, each month participants will go on a leisurely hike with one of Prescott Farm’s naturalists, with the goal of cultivating each person’s observation skills and deepening their relationship with the natural world. Program titles and descriptions are used with permission from Mary Holland. Upcoming themes: Jan. – “Endurance,” Feb. – “Survival,” March – “Awakening.” For monthly theme descriptions please visit Prescott Farm’s website at www.prescottfarm.org. Also, please note the specific times for adults and families (Adults only are from 10-11:30am and Families are from 1-2:30pm).

Snowshoe Saunters – Every Saturday throughout the winter, Prescott Farm is hosting two guided daytime snowshoe hikes, one from 10 – 11:30am , and one from 1 – 2:30pm. Whether you are an avid snow-shoer or just beginning, join in for a refreshing walk and exploration of the winter landscape of Prescott Farm to see what the natural world has to offer this season. Please wear boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Snowshoes will be available if you don’t already have your own. All ages are welcome. The cost is $10 per person or $8 for members.

Moonlit Snowshoe Walks – Saturdays, Jan. 23rd, Feb. 20th, & March 26th, 6 – 7:30pm. – Prescott Farm’s environmental educators will guide you on a moonlit walk and encourage you to use your senses to explore the Farm in a different and special way. You will learn to identify several constellations in the night sky, discuss the habits of several nocturnal animals, and practice your own night vision abilities. Please wear boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Snowshoes will be provided as needed, and all ages are welcome. The cost for the guided walk is $10 per person, or $8 for Prescott Farm members.
